Mid year update

11:40 PM

Hi. こんにちは。

Just a quick type here.

So far, Malaysia has not allowed international travels, only returns into the country and the mandatory 2 weeks quarantine.

I have been on a lot of book buying spree. Regrettably quite a lot so it's a book buying ban for July. I'm hoping there isn't any Must-have books that tempt me. Books I have bought in June are mostly from Buku Fixi. I also have a few ebooks from Google Book.

I am thinking to join some events this month/year. Yeah a few. First, there's a #FixiNovoMalaysianNovelContest. Deadline by 31st December 2020. Anyone else interested can join by buying 3 books from the listed Fixi Novo. Terms and conditions also can be found there. I will be writing a Malaysian story but haven't decided on the setting; to be in Kl or Sarawak. There's a reason for this and it is important so I need the time to think this through.

Another event, that I just saw on Facebook, is The Malaysian Comickers' Challenge. The deadline for submission is 1st October 2020. This is quite abrupt but I did want to start back my love for drawing. If I am not so critical of it myself, I would have drawn lots by now. Second guessing myself came at a price. I still have lots of self confidence, bordering on arrogance really but... Anyway, I have a somewhat basic story in mind.

One last event on my mind is Nanowrimo, in November. I may be taking too much on my plate. The time line isn't that convenient, I still want my time for games and sleepppppp. Sleep is important.

But if I take these three major events and judge them all, I find that I need to consider doing them. All three involve writing, to some level of degree. Maybe not so much on the Comic event. However, the plans required, the duration I will need to invest myself into. Woah. Writing this down from my head, seems to clear some roadblocks.

Hmmm. さあ。。。Well, I will see how this goes.

Thanks for reading. Bye!

#1 Writing prompt

10:36 PM

"Attitude is everything", she told me.

Then she started to list out her best sellers, how their lives had changed, who and who was driving the latest 4WD. She drummed how 4 became 8 became 16 became 32 became 64.. That vacationing overseas, enjoying the snow, staycation in luxurious villas, were achieveable. All I had to do was pay a deposit of RM50 to join.

I hummed and ahh-ed while casting glances at my watch. Why, in hell, did I contacted this number for a side hustle? Had I expected it to be an honest work? Well, the notice had advertised it as such.

Make money from home! No experience required. You can learn while selling.

Oh wait, those words were beginning to sound misleading alright. I looked at the woman in front of me. Her age was around mine, maybe just a little bit older, 25ish? Her clothes were neat, not exactly fashionable but they were well coordinated to match her simple accessories of a watch and silver bracelet. Both were on her right wrist, so they made a little harmonious knock on each other as she moved her arms to emphasize her words.

I took some sips from my mocha. "That all sounds great. Thank you. But I'll like to think about it more before joining, please?"

She stopped. Uh-oh. I blinked as I registered a flash of annoyance on her previously animated face. Undeterred, clasping her hands on the table, she smiled a rather self-indulgent smile.

"Actually, I have one of my friends nearby. She's just closing a sale and we had planned to meet up after I have this talk with you." Okay, maybe I should leave. "Well, there she is. Is it okay if she joins us?"

... Uh huh, she brought in reinforcement for her MLM.

*writer's note
Hello, I enjoyed writing this little piece from a writing prompt. I'm going to stop here for a while and maybe or maybe not, there will be a continuation? Who knows. Lol. Thanks for reading. Bye.

CMCO2 DAY 20 // MCO DAY 76

9:30 PM

Finally, I published a new post on my instagram. I've left it vacant since March, only posting in instastory.
It was hard to simplify and minimize the journal/planner layout I had in my mind. I barely resisted throwing everything into that square frame.

But I succeeded and honestly I am pleased with the aesthetic of it.

Simple, minimal layout, no fancy pens or unnecessary stationery in the picture.

It just might be my best yet.

I am enjoying Netflix, so many series/movie to watch until I get confused which series to follow.

Right now, I am on Dynasty, Seraph of the End, Blue Exorcist, Sense 8 and Hospital Playlist.

That's all. Bye!

CMCO2 Day 10 // MCO Day 66

8:00 PM

It is so hot today.

I eat lunch.

I eat meat and rice.

肉 は 鳥 と 豚 です。
The meat is chicken and pork.

Lol, okay typing in Japanese that I am not used to, is trying.

CMCO2 Day 7 // MCO Day 63

10:00 PM

Today unexpected leave of absence from one of our longest employee. Did it took us by surprise? Yes, it did.

She does have an extrovert personality so perhaps this social distancing is taking a toll on her mental health. I approve the leave, partly because she needs it and also actually, she deserves it.

We had planned trips before Covid-19 closed up most countries. Moreover, for safety reasons, flights are cancelled hence the Domino effect.

CMCO2 Day 4 // MCO Day 60

10:00 PM

Today feels like a scene right out from Weathering with You due to the non stop rain. Literally, rain, light drizzle, heavier rain, stop a few hours, back to raining.

Luckily we managed to get one of his must-have 'Ramadan' food, satay. He is satisfied and so am I. Next I'm hoping for lemang and rendang.

I'm the type that dislikes pulling meat off the stick, so I de-stick 'em. E calls me barbaric. Lol.

Nothing else.

CMCO2 Day 3 // MCO Day 59

1:00 AM

Urmmmm, hey, so how is life?

With Covid-19, I guess for some, it is introverts-best-life and some i-need-sustenance and some i-need-manicure. *cough* Yea, I did not expect the MCO to prolong, now it's CMCO2. Gawd, my nails are long!

I just felt to type in for a while then disappear again til I have the next urge to write. Been having this kinda spurt since 2017. I think, write, draw, read, watch but I still feel so empty. Really empty, nothing feels fulfilling enough to sustain that spurt. Like I'm really bored.

So yea, how is your life?
